"people sleep peacefully in their beds at night
only because rough men stand ready to do violence
on their behalf." (George Orwell)

Brothers in Arms part 1

Rangers Sargent Sean Steele was only home for ten days, his unit was still stationed in Afganistan for another four month and Steel was happy to get any chance he could to get back home and see his family, even if it was only for ten days, but now the real purpose of his R&R was about to come to light.
he came to a building in midtown, he had a meetinghere with some agency called the 'BMA', he did some checking, and the BMA checked out o.k., but no one could tell him what exactly the BMA was in charge of, he walked in.
outside the building didn't looked like much, like a bank, or a lawyer's office, but inside was more like a police station, with a reception office, people coming up and down the stairs, all of them were dressed in cheap black suits, so steele was realy standing out, not only for his hight, a full 6,2 feet, but also for his full Ranger uniforms,
"may I help you?" the reception officer call out for Steele
"uh, yeah, I'm suppose to have a meeting here..."
 "name?"
 "Steele, Sean Steele"
 "I.D.?"
"oh, sure" Steele handed him his I.D. card
"one moment please" the reception office typed somting on the keybored for thirty seconds, then handed Steele is I.D back
"top floor, take the elevator, then wait until they call you in. good day Sir"
Steele took his I.D. and went up the three flights of stairs, and entered the elevator, were he saw only two buttons, one up, on down. he pushed the UP button and heard a computer voice saying:
"hello, Sargent Sean Steele" the Government, right.
a few seconds later, the elevator doors opened to another loby, but alot smaller one, Steele walked up to another reception officer and before he could introduse himself she said,
"hello Sargent, they are waiting for you right n-" then the elevator's doors opened again, and a man came rushing out, and Steele saw from the reception officer's face she already knew him. he wasn't very tall, maybe 5,9, he wore a dirty, old, brown jacket, and he had multiple scars on his face, and one on his neck. he went pass by the reception and went in through the doors. Steele looked at the reception office, condused.
"sorry about that, he's a freelancer, he does that all the time, would you mind waiting here, I'm sure it won't be long"
"sure, no problem, you guys signed me leave forms, so I'll wait here, sleep here, and bring you some takeouts if you want me to" the reception office smiled at him
"we'll keep that in mind, but for the moment, just wait here"
"O.K. just one other thing, can you please tell me what does 'BMA' stand for, and why am I here?"
"everything will be explaind to you, once you get in, for the momment, just take a seat"
Steele sat near the door, and could hear the people in there shouting, two mem, one woman.
he looked at his watch, it was past four, and the watch reminded him his unit, his soldiers. then the doors opened, and the scarred man came storming out,
a few seconds later, the woman he heard came rushing after him, after eighteen months with no women interactions, Steele just couldn't take his eye off of her. and she was impressive, shoulder hight haitcut, a touch of makeup, perfect black skin tone, and a body that could kill you where you stand, eighteen months is a long time.
 "Sargent!"
 "yeah sorry, I was err..."
 "you can get in now"

Former U.S Army General Archibald Gibbs set at a large desk, and the intire room was decorated with medals and awards. Sean walked in and closed the doors behined him.
"so, Sargent Steele, do you know why you are here"
"no sir, all I was told is there suppose to be an interview", Gibbs smiled a little smile and said:
"sit down soldier, there won't be an interview"
"sir, if you don't want me, why would you bring me here?"
"son, do you know what does 'BMA' stand for? we are the Bureau for Meta-Human Affairs, from your files here, I see you're an outstanding soldier, your C.O. has recommanded highly of you, and this meeting is just to see if you are willing to work with us"
"but, what does the 'Bureau for Meta-Human Affairs' want with me, sir?" Gibbs smiled wider.
"I know about your 'incident' last year, you 'pushed' a fellow soldier out of harm's way, exept you were ten feet away from him. you are a Meta-Human Sargent, and we would like you to work with us"
"but... how do you know that?"
"we have agents all over the world for that" the voice came from the door, it was the woman.
"Sargent Steele, meet Madelynn Lawson, she'll be your handler, if you'll choose to join us"
"but you haven't told me what you need from me"
"have you ever heard about the 'Enforcers'?" Madelynn asked, and Sean could see now she had bright green eyes, eighteen months and now her? talk about jumping into the field.
"the Enforcers? yeah I heard about them, they were like superheroes, right?"
"thats right, they disbanded over thirty years ago, for all kinds of reasons, and now, we're bringing them back, and we want you to be one of then"
this was all to hard to belive, ever since he found out about his powers, Sean did his best to hide them, but in the Army, he kept finding more and more oportunetis to use them to help people, to save people, but he never saw himself as a hero, certenly not a SUPERHERO.
 "I'm in"

After a one hour drive and a quick stop so Steele could lose the uniforms, he and Madelynn got to a backally bar called 'The Shaman's Tent', and the sign near the door said: "Walked right in, or don't, like we give a crap", classy
inside they were suppose to meet two other members of the new team, or as Gibbs called them, the troublemakers.
the Bar was pretty empty at this time of the day, just a few costumers, all sitting alone or in small groups, no one talking to the young hot bartender or the pretty blond that set there looking bored, playing with her lighter, some heavy metal band was shouting in the back room, the words muffeld by the walls.
Madelynn walked to the counter and set near the blond, Steele set down too.
"hello May, who's your friend?" from a closer look Steele could see she wasn't playing with a lighter, the fire came out of her fingertips,
"his namd is Sean Steele. Sean, meet Christine Embers, also a member in our team" Christine leand and shook Sean's hand, her palm was warm.
"call me Christy" she was wearing short black pants and red heels, reveling her legs, and a red, loose top with a generous cleavage, with no bra, Steele couldn't belive she was a superhero, but then again, she could light fire from her hands.
"what can I get you?" the bartender was young, twenty-one, maybe twenty-two years old, she was a cute native american who looked older because of her greyish hair, but a seconed look tought that it was dyed.
Madelynn shook her head "nothing, thank you, could you tell me were Damon is?"
"at the back, as always" Madelynn noded, tiped her and got up, Sean and Christine follewing her. she opened the back door and the music exploded in their ears in a fast rythem: "...know that you're full of pain already? Yes they know that you hurt yourself another time, Decadence isn't easy. Then you slowly recall all your mind,
Why your soul's gone cold, and all hope has run dry, Dead inside, Never enough to forget that you're one of the lonely, Slowly recall all your-"
then Madelynn pressed a button on the sterio and an ear ringin silence fell in the room, broken only by the moaning of a man liying on the couch,
"NO, don't do that!, it was just getting to the good part" then he fell off the couch.
"we're here Damon, we're the BEST part" and even though she was being sarcastic, Madelynn voice remined the same.
the man burped and Christy shrugged, "ugh, he's like, wasted!"
"no no no no, I'm fine, I'm fine" then he stood up, and he was big, almost as big as Steele himself, he was topless and masculer, and had long blond hair all the way past his shoulders.
"alright Lawson, what is it this time? another test?, she don't look like a doctor, and he looks like a freaking wall"
"these are your teammates Damon, Sean Steele and Christine Embers. Damon is the first Meta-human we recruted to the new Enforcers, his code name will be Turmoil, you'll see why soon enough. Damon, put a shirt on and wash your face, the project just got a green light"
Damon looked at Sean and Christy, then his eyes cleared and he smiled and said
 "well, It's about Fucking time"
this time we meet Sgt Sean Steels, and learn more about the 'Enforcers', but who are the rest of the would-be heroes, and what does Badland has to do with any of this?
