Badlands - part 4

I got to the top floor of a skyscrapper in the rich part of town. I was accompanied by Nicole Kostova, a tall black heired woman with yelow eyes. I recognized her from her past life as an assassin, back then she was known as Hydra, due to her ability to regenerate from any wound and even lost limbs. but it's her skills with pistols and knives that made
her a world class assassin.
   but eight years ago she started working for Mr. Jason Adams as his 'Assistant', which is Mafia for 'Problem solver'. which mean she's his own personal assassin. she showed me to Mr. Adams's office door.
"Mr. Adams is waiting for you"
"arn't you going to chack me for Weapones?"
"Should I?" Just then I felt a strong hand on my shoulder, I look back and see a big man with blue eyes long black hair and black clothing.
"umm, Ivan, right?"
"Da, you call me Oprichnik"
"Ok Oprichnik, it's nice to see you again, last time we met you wern't so friendly"
"last time we met, me broke you rib" It was two ribs actually, but who's counting.
"yeah, Great times, and as much as I would love to stay and Chat, the boss is waiting"
he looked at Hydra who nod at him and just like that, I was allowed to walk into Mr. Adams's Office,
into the Abyss.
"you're late" Jason Adams 'Abyss' is a tall handsome man in his fourties, twenty years ago, he worked as a thife and an assassin for a big crime boss, until the young Meta-Human had enough taking orders from 'normal people' and turn on his boss, taking over his criminal empire, now enlisting only Meta-Humans, he runs the organization under the name 'the Empowereds', and rent their services to anyone who can pay them.
none of this can be proven, of cours, so Adams stays clean, it's people like Hydra and Oprichnik that keep his men in line, all of his lieutenants are fiercely loyal to him and would give their lives to protect him.
but Abyss is not without means, as a Teleporter, he can be everywhere he want in a heart beat, in his youth he used this to spy on his enemies, learning all their dirty secrets, he can stab a man in the back while shaking his hands, infact, rumor has it that this is how he killed his old boss.
I set before him uninvited and streach myself.
"I got into alittle srkimish with some assholes, your boy Mavreic was there to stop the hole thing just when it was getting fun"
"maybe I should have told him to let them kill you"
"thats not your style" he smiled
"no, it isn't"
"so? way did you want to see me for?"
"there's this rumor about a kid with technopathic abilities, I'm sure you were hired by the Agency to find him, so I'm giving you a warning, stay out of my way, all I need is an escuse to have you killed"
"why do you need another Technopath, you already got one, can't you let the agency have one to?"
"Technos are a valuable thing in our age, one can never have too many"
"how IS Glich, anyway?"
"Fine, happy, Free, and out of your reach, Badland"
Charlie Smith, or Glich, is one of the world's most powerfull Technopaths, three years ago I was trying to find her, tried to convince her to come with me to the agency, but Abyss was there too, promising her everything she dreamed of, fortune, power, and most of all, Freedom, something I knew the agency couldn't give her.
shit, that's why I'M not an agent now, and Abyss knows this.
"so is that all? you called me hear just to warn me?" I stood up,
"well Adams, you should know by now that I don't die that easy, I'm gonna find that kid, and I'm gonna make sure he's trained and ready for anything, shit, even Glich won't be able to stop him from stoping you!"
"then maybe I Should just kill you now" then he noded to someone behined me, I looked back and saw Mr. Adams's white Shadow: Mr. X.
"shit, I didn't notice you were here, hello X" he gave me a Quick nod.
I don't realy know when X started following Abyss or why, but the two are always seen together. I don't even know X's real name, I don't know if Abyss knows it.
X's skin is chalk white, his eyes are completly black, but his pupils are white, his face are as still as the grave, lacking all expressions, and I have never once heard him speak.
not that I want to.
"so? can I trust you to stay out of the way? or do you need X to convince you?"
I looked at X's ghostly eyes and saw nothing.
"no, I won't be In your way, but the Martinez Might be, they're the ones who attaked me" another smile by Adams
"I'll deal with the Martinez, and with you, if my men see you near that boy"
"no need to remind me, I said I'll drop it"
"Good, now get out of my sight, Badland"

Walking out on the streets agian I thought about Abyss's Warning. if he wanted me dead, he could have told Brickwall to stay in the car, have Martinez's boys finish me off, or have Brickwall himself kill me.
he didn't warned me, that much I know, in his own twisted way, he tried to motivate me into findnig Dannie before he does, he probably think he can do the same thing he did with Glich, three years ago.
but that was  then, this time I won't let him ruine another life.
yet something tells me things will get messy, so I'm gonna need some help, I took my phone out and speed dial to the only man that can help me, the phone ring three times before he answered.
"Ben? is something wrong?"
"no, not yet, but it will, so I'm going to to need that favor you owe me"
"I Understand, give me the details"
I told him him everything that happened, and what I needed him to do, and made my way to the arcaid. That Boy Dannie Rivers Got everybody all worked up, there must be something more to it then just that Boy I'm sure of it, but someone is keeping me in the dark, so it must be big, but May and Archie Should know by now, if this thing, big as it may be, Get's in my way of saving this boy, I'll spend the rest of my life Tearing it down.
